Chauncey Hagg’s service and leadership was the motivation for establishing AdoptaPlatoon in 1998. We think of Chauncey and his family fondly. Chauncey had said, “Mom, don’t send one care package! SEND TEN! One for ME and one for my fellow battle buddies.” Little did we know that your concern for your fellow Soldiers would lead to hundreds of thousands of Soldiers and Marines receiving a “taste of home” in Care Packages that were sent in the years to come. Always sharing what you had, always willing to be the first to laugh and always thinking of others. Ida Hagg, along side her husband Michael and sister Norma, put this request into motivation. Their eldest son, Michael Henry, has taken to the helm and continued this mission.
Henry Clay Stokes, Papaw of Chauncey & Michael Henry and Crystal & Tammy, Sept 30, 1919 - Oct 3, 2002. Enlisted from January 9, 1941, to July 8, 1945, he served honorably during World War II. His service included participation in the Normandy campaign and he demonstrated resilience during the Battle of the Bulge. He also served in the Eastern Theatre and was personally awarded the Purple Heart, Silver Star, and Bronze Star for his bravery and service. We remain committed to supporting our military personnel with the same dedication that our Papaw exemplified for our country.
